Striking the right balance between Cloud and local systems

Over the past few years the notion of “cloud computing” has become far more main stream on both a usage and marketing basis. Cloud computing can mean a lot of different things to different people and there is certainly a lot of confusion around between different competing solutions and systems.

For the purpose of this discussion we will consider cloud systems to be solutions hosted and managed in a separate location than your office. Some examples are Hosted Exchange email running on a data centre server or a hosted desktop (VDI) system where your users log into a secondary desktop system, located on a server in a datacentre.

So with all of the different technology available, how do you know what is best for your business? Also, how does Virtual IT (or any other supplier in that case) know what is best for your business? The simple answer to that question is that we don’t, well we don’t yet at least, until we meet you that is.

At Virtual IT we find it essential to be consultative with any potential customers. We would like to talk to you about how you work, how you would like to work and how things may change for your business in the future. That way, we are better informed to not only suggest an suitable solution and IT support package for now, but also strategically for your business as it progresses in the future.

So what are the different elements that can make one solution better suited to your business? Well take your workforce for example, let’s just say that you have 40 users in your organisation, spread around 5 different UK sites, all using a common application. In this instance it is possible that either a fully hosted desktop solution or at least hosted application scenario may suit your needs.

Virtual IT has been offering IT support for cloud and cloud hybrid solutions for ten years and over this time we have seen the landscape change. We feel it important to keep you informed of where the market is technically and where you can take advantage of different ways of delivering IT. We feel however, these choices must be made by understanding what is best for you and your business. We are here to supply stable, useable systems that make IT easy and allow you to get on with running your business…
